Ballinamore, a thriving rural centre for the surrounding parishes and is internationally renowned for its abundance of coarse angling waters with approximately 40 lakes within a 10km radius. The town has a rich architectural heritage with buildings such as the Old Court House which was built in the 1830s, The Church of Ireland built c 1780 and the town bridge with its 19th century arches. The town offers many activities including angling, walking, horse-riding, golfing and cruising and is an ideal location as a base for a range of interesting outings in the local area. Information on what to do in the area can be found at the Tourist and Angling information Centre which is located in the middle of the town where there is also a room dedicated to the work of John McGahern.
